HANWELL & NORWOOD GREEN 1894 - LONDON SHEET 69a
These detailed maps normally cover an area of about one and a half miles by one mile. Each map includes an introduction and many include extracts of directories, local transport timetables and additional maps.
We have published two versions of this detailed map, showing how the area developed across the years. The map covers the southern portion of Hanwell, around St Mark's church, which is in the NE corner. The map then extends south and west to include the village of Norwood Green, around St Mary's church, in the SW corner.
The GWR Brentford branch, Windmill Lane, and the Grand Junction Canal run through the map. The principal feature is the Hanwell Lunatic Asylum, opened in 1831, while part of the map is taken up with the northern part of Osterley Park. We include extracts from early directories on the reverse; the 1934 map has entries K-Z of the Hanwell entry from a 1933 directory.
The map links up with London Sheets 55 Hanwell Village to the north, 70 South Ealing to the east, and Middlesex Sheets 15.14 Southall Green to the west, 20.03 Osterley Park to the south.
It will be posted in a board backed envelope to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
