These detailed maps normally cover an area of about one and a half miles by one mile. Each map includes an introduction and many include extracts of directories, local transport timetables and additional maps.
We have published two versions of this map, showing how the area changed across the years. The maps cover an area on the east side of Manchester which includes Philips Park and Clayton. Coverage stretches from Forge Lane eastward to Edge Lane, and from Oldfield Street northward to Rose Bank Road.
Features include Clayton Hall, Philips Park, Philips Park Cemetery, Ashton Branch railway with Park and Clayton Bridge stations, Electricity Generating Station with mineral branch, African Mills, Bradford Iron Works, Philips Park Mills, Bank Bridge Stopper Works, Park Engineering Works, tramways, St Cross church, Culceth area, Clayton Vale, Scotland Hall, Clayton Bridge area, River Medlock, Manchester & Ashton Canal with Clayton Arm, etc. We include a selection of street directory entries on the reverse.
The map links up with sheets 104.04 Newton Heath to the north, 104.07 Manchester NE to the west, 105.05 Droylsden to the east and 104.12 Openshaw to the south.
