MANVERS MAIN 1901 - YORKSHIRE SHEET 283.08
These detailed maps normally cover an area of about one and a half miles by one mile. Each map includes an introduction and many include extracts of directories, local transport timetables and additional maps.
This detailed map is dominated by Manvers Main Colliery, and the No.2 Pit is also shown further west. These are shown in some detail, with track layouts. The Dearne & Dove Canal runs through the map, as do several railways: Midland Railway, GCR Barnsley to Barnetby line, Swinton & Knottingley Loop, GCR Wath Curve. In the SE corner is Roman Terrace and small portions of Mexborough and Swinton. On the reverse we include about half of the 1930 map for the Manvers Main area, showing how the place developed.
This map links up with sheets 283.04 Bolton upon Dearne to the north, 283.07 Wath upon Dearne to the west, 284.09 Mexborough to the east; and 283.12 Swinton to the south.
