These detailed maps normally cover an area of about one and a half miles by one mile. Each map includes an introduction and many include extracts of directories, local transport timetables and additional maps.
We have published two versions of this detailed map, showing how the area changed across the years. Each covers the Neepsend and Walkley area on the NW side of Sheffield. Coverage stretches from Neepsend Bridge westward to Walkley Crescent and northward to Leader Road.
Major features include a stretch of the Great Central Railway with engine shed, Neepsend Gas Works, River Don, Parkwood Springs, Philadelphia, Cannon Brewery, Hillfoot, Walkley Ward, Lower Walkley, Walkley Lane Brick Works, Limbrick Works, River Loxley, Owlerton Bridge Rolling Mills, Old Park Silver Rolling Mills, trams and depot, Owlerton, Barracks, Birley Meadow Forge etc. We include a selection of street directory entries on the reverse of each map.
The map links up with Sheets 288.15 Hillsbroough to the north, 294.02 Sheffield Loxley Valley to the west, 294.04 Sheffield North to the east and 294.07 Sheffield West to the south.
