STEVE GARTON GENEALOGY - GODFREY EDITION OLD ORDNANCE SURVEY MAPS
SHINEY ROW & BOURNMOOR 1895 - DURHAM SHEET 13.11
These detailed maps normally cover an area of about one and a half miles by one mile. Each map includes an introduction and many include extracts of directories, local transport timetables and additional maps.
This very detailed map covers the villages of Bournmoor in the west and Shiney Row to the NE, and the hamlet of Success in the SE.
Features include Bournmoor village, St Barnabas church, Bowes House Farm, Biddick Hall, Boundary Houses, Bournmoor Farm, Success, Bunker Hill, Herrington Burn, Shiney Row, Painshaw Place, Painshaw House, Painshaw Foundry, NER Leamside railway, Lambton Railway, Bowes House Branch, Junction Bank, Margaret Pit, Mary Pit, Jane Pit, old pits, etc.
We include extracts from Whellan's 1894 directory for Burnmoor, Penshaw and Newbottle parishes.
The map links up with Sheet 13.07 Penshaw to the north, 13.12 Newbottle to the east, 13.15 Fencehouses to the south.
NB: We are unable to do searches of maps. We stock almost 3000 maps covering the UK and unfortunately do not have the "local" knowledge of the area concerned and trying to find specific streets etc is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack unless you know where to look. All our maps have descriptions of the area shown so we suggest a bit of research should be able to narrow it down.
