STEVE GARTON GENEALOGY - GODFREY EDITION OLD ORDNANCE SURVEY MAPS
WHALLEY RANGE 1892 COLOURED EDITION - LANCASHIRE SHEET 111.02a
These detailed maps normally cover an area of about one and a half miles by one mile. Each map includes an introduction and many include extracts of directories, local transport timetables and additional maps.
We have published four versions of this map, showing how the area changed across the years. The 1892 version is in full colour, taken from the beautiful OS 1st edition handcoloured map.
The maps cover the southern area of Manchester around and to the south of Alexandra Park, including much of Whalley Range. Coverage stretches from Egerton Road eastward to Dogkennel Lane, and from Mayfield Road southward to Alexandra Park station. Features include Alexandra Park, Primitive Methodist College, Old Doghouse Farm, stretch of GCR railway with Alexandra Park station, Old Hall Farm, Hawarden House, Manley Hall, Manley Park, Independent College, Whalley House, St Gertrude's Convent, Whalley Farm etc.
We include selections of early street directory entries on the reverse of each map.
The map links up with sheets 104.14 Moss Side to the north, 111.01 Chorlton cum Hardy to the west, 111.03 Fallowfield to the east and 111.06 Barlow Moor to the south.
It will be posted in a board backed envelope to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition.
NB: We are unable to do searches of maps. We stock almost 3000 maps covering the UK and unfortunately do not have the "local" knowledge of the area concerned and trying to find specific streets etc is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack unless you know where to look. All our maps have descriptions of the area shown so we suggest a bit of research should be able to narrow it down.
